Naomi is an adaptable violinist, performing with orchestras, chamber groups, pit bands and as a soloist.
She has received tuition from highly renowned teachers including Lesley Hatfield (Leader of BBC NOW), Caroline Abbott (Violinist, Halle Orchestra) and Owen Cox (Orchestral Violinist and teacher at Cheethams School of Music) and has participated in masterclasses with world class players including Itzhak Rashkovsky (International Violinist), Lucy Gould (violinist of prestigious Gould Trio) and Rachel Podger (International Baroque Violinist). |
Naomi specialises in electroacoustic and contemporary composition. Her work focuses on ideas of gesture, timbre and space. She particularly likes to create pieces that blend recognisable and manipulated sounds, creating a strangely familiar yet warped sound world.
Since her time studying at the RWCMD, Naomi has also become very interested in soundscapes, often creating compositions comprised entirely of the human voice - words and phrases muddled together, each with a specific character or purpose - to convey thoughts and ideas on topics such as feminism and existence. Naomi's love for contemporary electroacoustic music began during her studies at the University of Manchester with Ricardo Climent and David Berezan. Naomi loves passing on her passion for music through teaching and educational workshops. She regularly teaches the violin and piano to a wide range of pupils from young children up to adults. Through her work with Collective31, she regularly runs music and art outreach workshops for schools and local communities.
Naomi has previously worked as Assistant Musical Director for Youth Music Theatre, working with over thirty children on intense summer courses and with the Halle Orchestra's outreach programme 'Adopt=a-Player', teaching children about music, orchestras and composition. |
